With a official blog postproclaimed Nick Maguire of SIE “novelty very exciting for me members Playstation Plus Premium“. Behind these words he hides himself the start of tests that will lead to offering streaming of PS5 games via the cloud.
“Contains PS5 games catalog titles and trial versions of PlayStation Plus games, as well as supported digital PS5 titles owned by players. With the launch of this feature, cloud streaming of supported PS5 titles will be available directly to your PS5 console. It is our goal Add this feature to PlayStation Plus Premium as an added benefitas part of our ongoing efforts to increase the value of PlayStation PlusSaid Maguire. We’re currently in the early stages and look forward to sharing more details, including a launch timeline, when we’re ready“.
Streaming through the cloud already included PS3, PS4 and classic titles for premium members, but the addition of PS5 games brings things full circle. With this opening by Sony, Enthusiasts no longer need to download games to the console to stream them to other devices. Sony currently supports streaming PS5 games to PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices. However, you must use the PS5 as a host to download and stream games to your other systems.
We mustn’t forget the recent announcement of Project Q, a “portable” console that – as far as has been stated so far – only allows PS5 games to be streamed over WiFi directly from the home console. The Japanese house hasn’t clarified whether the new device will support streaming PS5 games via the cloud, but according to some, this breakthrough could indicate it. Project Q is expected to be released in the fall (November?), so Sony may release more information in the future.
