Microsoft has increased the price of Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Passalso in Italy. The US, Japan, Chile, Brazil and Colombia are escaping this surge. From August 1st the price of Xbox Series X will go up from €499.99 €549.99while the Xbox Series S remains at €299.99, with the 1TB version expected to cost €349.99 from September.
We remember that last August Sony adjusted the price list of the PlayStation 5 by 50 euros, raising the model with Ultra HD Blu-ray player to 549.99 euros and the PS5 Digital Edition to 449.99 euros.
On the front side Xbox Game Passthe price increases will be active from July 6th for new subscribers and from August 13th for existing subscribers: The price for the basic monthly subscription is 9.99 to €10.99while the Ultimate goes up from 12.99 €14.99. The PC Game Pass, on the other hand, will continue to be offered for EUR 9.99 per month.
We’d like to say these increases are totally unexpected, but it was Phil Spencer – Xbox boss – who spoke about price increases last fall. According to the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, it was important then to leave the prices unchanged for the Christmas holidays, but now we are at the beginning of summer and, with costs certainly higher than in the past, any marketing logic and business decisions are skipped.
“We have kept console prices stable for many years and adjust prices based on competitive conditions in each marketsaid Kari Perez, head of communications at Xbox, in a statement The edge. “These Game Pass price adjustments are unrelated to the Activision Blizzard deal and aims to reflect local market conditionsPerez added.
